Best time to visit Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a bit more complicated when it comes to weather. There are two monsoons affecting different areas of the island. Best time to go depends on where exactly you wish to go.

West and South

West, South and hill country has the best season between december and april. We visited Sri Lanka during this time and it was still raining quite a lot. For a visit of the hill country (Nuwara Eliya, Ella) pack some warm clothes. It can get very cold in the evening and at night.

East and North

Eastern coast has the best weather between may and october. You might still experience a few rainy days but in general it should be fine.
