Best time to visit Italy
june – september
november – march
Italy is a huge country. It is difficult to summarize when it is most worthwhile to come here. If you are interested in individual destinations, you can read more about the best times to visit them by clicking on the links above.
Summer in Italy is amazing. It doesn’t matter if you go north to the Alps or south to the sea. Pleasant temperatures await you in the mountains during the day, but be prepared for slightly cooler nights. By the sea, you can enjoy real holiday temperatures. However, do not forget that it is also the main tourist season. Prices are higher, attractions and hotels can be full and booked, and there are more people everywhere.
If you are going north to the mountains, in winter you will find plenty of snow, skiing and winter hiking opportunities. However, it is possible that some routes will be closed. The same applies to roads and mountain passes.
In the south of the country, temperatures are cooler than in summer. The temperatures here are not exactly ideal for swimming in the sea. Maybe with a few exceptions. However, it is a great time to explore and visit attractions. At the same time, you can warm up for a while when winter is in full swing elsewhere.
If you want to avoid the crowds, autumn or spring are also worth considering. Even after the summer season, there is a good chance that it will still be hot outside and you will be able to go to the sea. The mountains are also emptier then and the autumn nature is breathtaking.
