By bus

There are several state and private buses that run between major cities in Goa and Palolem Beach. There is a direct bus only from Margao. That means you have to get there at first from your location. Bus from Margao stops at the main road  here and it doesn’t go directly to Palolem. From there you have to walk around 10-20 minutes to get to Palolem beach. You can also catch a local bus at the main road but there isn’t any time schedule. Price is around 1-2€.

By train

The nearest railway station to Palolem Beach is Canacona Railway Station. It is located about 6 km from the beach. Not every train is going to Canacona Railway Station so you might go to Margao. From the railway station you can hire a taxi, rickshaw or take a bus to reach the beach.

By car

You can reach Palolem beach by private transfer. Taxi costs around 20-40€, depending on where you start your journey.

Where to eat

Palolem beach is full of very nice restaurants. You can find many of them directly on the beach with a view on the ocean and you can enjoy the best views. Prices are very similar in all restaurants. There is one restaurant which we liked a lot! It’s called Zest. It has very tropical and chill atmosphere. This place looks amazing, cozy and it has very comfortable seating. You can find very delicous food in the internetional menu and they have amazing coffee.

On the main road you can find less restaurants than on the beach. But still it could be hard to choose the right one. All of them are cheaper compared to restaurants at the beach. We really liked The Singh Family restaurant. They have really good prices and sooo many different types of food in the menu. Once you will go there you are gonna love their kitchen. Everything we had was very tasty!

Our Palolem beach review

Palolem beach was our first beach we visited during our stay in Goa. After traveling  and exploring the most famous beaches in Goa we can say that Palolem beach is on the first place. We love it soo much. Palolem beach is surrounded by green hills and palm trees, which give it a tropical paradise feel. It is also known for its golden sands and laid back atmosphere. It is the perfect spot for sunbathing, relaxing and enjoying water activities

Water is not so clear. It is same at all goa beaches. There is many small waves and you can enjoy them. We thought that Palolem beach during Christmas will be crowded but it wasn’t. Therefore we were able to enjoy our stay to the fullest. At the end of Palolem beach there is an incredible sunset point. You can easily get there by foot. Definitely always stay longer until you will see colours like from our image. It is stunning!

Palolem beach for Christmas

Palolem Beach is a popular destination for tourists during the Christmas holiday season. During Christmas and New Year it’s very expensive. You have to count with that. Prices for accomodation are often tripled and even more. Everyone wants to get paid in advance.

Be very careful while choosing your accomodation. Always choose accomodation with many good reviews. In case you will need to pay in advance always pay only through the booking.com or airbnb. Never pay thought the other apps.

Additionally, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are celebrated with great enthusiasm in Goa with many events and parties held on the beach. It was very magical watching sunset on the beach during Christmas Eve. After that we had romantic dinner with candles right on the beach.
